Last weekend saw the hallowed Miss Ireland crown placed on the pretty wee head of Derry girl Laura Patterson at The Royal Marine Hotel. The blonde Northern Irish lass now goes forward to represent Ireland at Miss World 2009 in South Africa this coming December...

This year's Miss Ireland winner Laura Patterson actually hails from Northern Ireland, and we couldn't be happier to see a Derry girl going forward to represent us at Miss World... We bet the Strand Bar will be only hopping on the 12th of December.

Despite all the hype and the famous brothers, sadly Miss Cork - Etaoin O'hAlpin didn't feature in the final three places. Mr Ireland 2009 Kamal Ibrahim was also present at the beauty pageant looking very James Bond indeed.

Celebrity judge on the night was Michelle Heaton who was rocking a rather large ring on her wedding finger leading to speculation that her fella Hugh Hanley may have popped the question... Not that rumour again!
