Colin Farrell's Got Golden Globes...

It seems Irish actor Colin Farrell has come full circle in Hollywood terms. He has finally found critical success with a Golden Globe in his back pocket but only after he turned his back on his badboy image, hedonistic lifestyle, and big budget films...

What's that old paradox? To find oneself one must lose oneself... Cliché as that sounds, it's sorta true where our Colin is concerned... The Castleknock College chancer put himself through the ringer with all the sex, drugs & alcohol when he first hit Hollywood. But only found his true calling after a spell in rehab scared the bejesus outta him and woke him up to his real potential. It almost went pear shaped folks.

The ruggedly handsome Dubliner landed a prestigious prize this week in the form of a Golden Globe for his performance in Martin McDonagh's black comedy 'In Bruges' - the shiny trophy could just have as easily gone to Brendan Gleeson who gave as strong a performance in the Irish film. Unusually, both Brendan and Colin were up against each other for the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy gong for the same movie...

We're totally chuffed to bits that Colin landed the prize as it was a bold and daring move which took him away from the big budget Hollywood flicks, that made him a household name, and back to small independent films which, are both testing and developing his art. We're glad the risk paid off as not too many people get to rebrand themselves in the cruel world of ShowBiz.

Apart from Farrell bringing home the bacon, his fellow Dubliner Gabriel Byrne won the award for Best Actor in a TV Drama for his performance in the HBO series 'In Treatment' but we're not too sure whether he attended the Los Angeles ceremony. Either way, well done lads. Keep 'em coming... Hopefully one day we'll see an Irish actress up there too.
