The Glenda Puts Township Trip On Ice...

Dynamic model and Xpose presenter Glenda Gilson swapped the blistering heat of the Khayelitsha Township in Cape Town for an icy rink in Smithfield this week. With Duncan James under her spell, The Glenda gave Ireland's first celebrity interview on ice-skates... Is there no end to this woman's abilities?

Our hat really goes off to all-round ledge and part-time superwoman Glenda Gilson. Unlike the majority of the overly primped and primed Irish models, our Glenda aint afraid to get a bit o' dirt under the nails and roll-up her sleeves. Hell no.

Last weekend Glenda jetted back into Dublin after spending a few weeks in South Africa toiling in the sun and building 250 new free houses for the impoverished Township people of Cape Town as part of the amazingly worthy Niall Mellon Township Trust charity... This one is a proper charity folks, you don't just see where your money goes; you have to actually pitch-in and get hands-on.

With about 2,000 volunteers by her side, Miss Gilson was joined by 50 Irish bankers, developer Sean Dunne, celebrity gardener Diarmuid Gavin, and a group of chiefs of staff from the US Congressional Black Caucus. Well she didn't build the 250 homes and house 3,000 people on her own!

But no sooner was her good self off the plane from South Africa and she was back in the game with the trusty Xpose mic in her hand and a celebrity or two in her sights...

The Glenda was back in town to cover the launch of 'Dublin On Ice' in Smithfield Village which, was also attended by former Blue singer Duncan James and Emmerdale actress Roxanne Pallett. She even managed to interview the stars with grace and poise and she glided around on the ice. Now that's just showing off.

And in-keeping with the family theme of Dublin On Ice, Niall Quinn's picture perfect clan were all wrapped-up-warm for the launch. It looks like young Aishling Quinn is following in her mother Gillian’s and auntie Valerie Roe's footsteps. Model scouts were rubber-necking the stunner as they passed-by on their skates.
