The Actors Start Filming...

Filming began yesterday on the new Neil Jordan / FilmFour movie The Actors starring Michael Caine and Dylan Moran.

FilmFour and Company Of Wolves, Stephen Woolley and Neil Jordan's production outfit announced that principal photography on the movie started early yesterday in Dublin.

The Actors is a comedy from writer and director Conor McPherson and stars Michael Caine, Dylan Moran, Michael Gambon, Lena Headey and Miranda Richardson.

Redmond Morris of Four Provinces Films will join Stephen Woolley and Jordan as producers with Paul Webster and Hanno Huth executive producing.

The original story was written by Neil Jordan and adapted by McPherson. Filming will go on for nine weeks in Ireland.

In the movie two struggling, rather eccentric actors Tom (Dylan Moran) and O'Malley (Michael Caine) prove the little known adage that bad actors make great crooks.

For his research in the character of Richard III, O'Malley starts hanging out with the local criminals in the roughest pub in town and gets embroiled in a plot to steal a large sum of cash with the help of Tom and Tom's weirdly clever 9 year old niece.

The legendary Oscar winning Michael Caine (Cider House Rules, Hannah And Her Sisters) is joined by up-coming Perrier and BAFTA TV Award winner Dylan Moran (Black Books), Michael Gambon (Charlotte Gray, Gosford Park), Lena Heady (Ripley's Game, The Parole Officer) and Miranda Richardson (The Crying Game, The Hours).

FilmFour International will handle international sales and FilmFour Distributors will release it in the UK. Miramax has taken North American rights and regular FilmFour partner Senator Film Production will Handle German speaking territories.

Additional funding comes from The Irish Film Board and Section 481.
