Jim Sheridan wins at the races...

Irish film director Jim Sheridan picked up a cheque last week for £100,000 when his horse Vinnie Roe won the main race in the Currragh.

The director who is currently making his new film East of Harlem has had little time to spend the cash however as next week he is heading to New York to work on the final scenes of the movie.

His daughter on the other hand is about to show that movie making is not just a skill her father has. Kristin, Jim's 25 year old daughter has been working on movies for the past five years and her latest movie Disco Pigs has been picked to open this years 46th Cork Film Festival and also stars our very own supermodel Patrica Devine.

Pierce Brosnan will be back in Ireland this week and has recently confirmed reports that he to start shooting the drama "Evelyn" here in October.

The film is based on the true story of Desmond Doyle.
