His song "The Fairytale of New York" still tops all polls as the greatest ever Christmas song and his infamous partying lifestyle also gets him into the Rogues Gallery top 10 along-side the likes of Oliver Reed and Keith Moon...

And the great news for all music fans around the world is that Shane has rejoined his former band The Pogues and the boys are back on the road gigging and making more unapologetic and profound Irish music.

Shane joined up with Rock 'n' Guru BP Fallon, aka King Boogaloo, in Voodoo Lounge on the early hours of Christmas Eve for their combined DJ set called "Shane MacGowan & BP Fallon Go To Rehab."

And although Shane seemed to be sticking to pints of Ice Water instead of the Black Stuff he is still a wild-man when he gets behind the decks playing everything from The Clash and Led Zeppelin to Joy Division and Jerry Lee Lewis...

As BP Fallon says: "People go bonkers when Shane 's spinning. He's bloody good at it, sometimes also singing into the mic over the record. The bandleader in him reads the crowd and as the audience rises and rises volcanically he chooses his tracks instinctively - even though at times he might let on he doesn't give a fuck."
