Burgh to Open Tour in Wexford...
Irish based singer Chris de Burgh has chosen
to open his latest world tour in the town he was raised
in, Wexford.
Far
more accustomed to performing in arenas around the
globe, Chris has decided to premiere his forthcoming
World Tour 2002/3 by playing one concert at Wexford's
intimate Dun Mhuire Theatre on September 13.
Backed
by his powerful band, Chris will present a selection
of well-known songs and new material from his latest
album, Timing Is Everything, released internationally
on September 16 and preluded by the single, Guilty
Secret, on September 2.
Throughout
a career spanning 28 years - amassing record sales
in excess of 45 million - Chris has always thrived
on live performance.
Countless
tours of the world have seen him perform in concert
more than 3000 times; a remarkable rate equivalent
to one show every three-and-a-half days since 1975.
The
Wexford concert will be particularly poignant and
special for him; Chris grew up close to the town,
and his earliest public performances were given to
guests staying at Bargy Castle, his family home there.
Following
the Wexford show, Chris will embark on the first leg
of his World Tour, moving initially through Europe
before reaching the UK during November - and then
continuing in the rest of the world during 2003.
Tickets
for the Dun Mhuire Theatre performance are €25 and
available through Ticketmaster
outlets.
Local
Wexford outlets are Whites for Music, Finnegans Bar
and Whites Electrical in Enniscorthy.
