It seems Noel Gallagher has at last illustrated his Irish-male modesty can sometimes come into play and his spectacular arrogance has a limit.

The Oasis star, who was recently injured in a car crash, says he could never go solo because he knows he couldn't compete with the legacy of Elvis Presley.

"I don't mind trying to take The Rolling Stones crown as the best rock n roll band ever, but I'm not messing with the King," the modest Mancunian admits to the New York Post.

But in the same interview the 35-year-old claims there are only six good bands in England: "There's Oasis and there's five Oasis tribute bands."
