The Corrs join Linda cancer Tribute...

While Madonna is still making up her mind over which song to cover for the upcoming tribute album to Linda McCartney Irish supergroup The Corrs look set to record The Long And Winding Road which was originally a hit for The Beatles. Madonna, Britney Spears and Queen are among stars joining The Corrs in recording Beatles songs for an album tribute to Linda McCartney according to the Sun.

Lenny Kravitz, Art Garfunkel, members of Wings - the band fronted by Paul McCartney and his late wife - and The Eagles will also play on the record.

And producers have approached former Beatles Paul, Ringo and George Harrison to see if they will contribute to the project.

Julian Lennon and Ringo Starr's son Zak have signed up to take part. The double CD is expected to raise millions for the charity Women And Cancer. Linda died from the disease in 1998.

Beatles fan and charity spokesman Darrol Edwards, who is helping to put the album together, told The Sun: "We felt it would be a fitting tribute to Linda. The response from the big stars has been amazing. About 12 tracks are in the bag. The record industry needs to recognise the great work Linda did and hopefully this record will raise a fortune for Women And Cancer."

Members of Queen are expected to perform Paul's solo track Souvenir. And a children's choir from the McCartneys' local school, Peasmarsh Primary, East Sussex, have recorded And I Love Her.

The project is likely to be backed up by a TV special. And live concerts on both sides of the Atlantic are also a possibility when the album is released next year.

Meanwhile, Yoko Ono is helping to organise a huge all-star tribute to John Lennon at New York's Radio City Music Hall on what would have been his 61st birthday on October 9.

Profits from the show will go to the Violence Policy Center, a gun control group. The Beatle was shot dead on a New York street in 1980 by an obsessed fan.
