Kenneth Branagh grew up in poverty in Belfast and moved to Reading aged 9. He was the youngest actor in The Royal Shakespeare Company ever to play Henry V. Branagh was cast as the lead in Amedaeus before the production company decided on an American lead for the film. In mid 1994 it was rumoured that Branagh was to play young Obe Wan Kinobi in the three prequels to the Star Wars ( 1977) trilogy for 2000. Branagh was married to actress Emma Thompson - 20th August 1989 - divorced 1996.
